Newspaper Story (2/19/13) - East Pond Association turns to small steps to combat algae blooms*

*Letter to editor with correction - "I greatly appreciate the Sentinel’s report on the efforts of the East Pond Association to improve the water quality of our lake. I do wish to clarify one point. While very high concentrations of some types of algae may be harmful, I believe that the Maine Department of Environmental Protection is on record stating that no lake in Maine has ever become a potential threat. While at times aesthetically unpleasant, the blooms in East Pond have, for the most part, been of relatively short duration, and have not had a negative impact on the fish population.  Additionally, I served as a selectman in Smithfield, not Sidney – Rob Jones, President, East Pond Association."

Here are 5 things you can do to improve East Pond water quality.
